HIL Testing
Hardware-in-loop testing is a crucial aspect of a vehicle’s E/E development and readiness. With HIL testing, engineers can test ECU functionalities and validate them on a bench set-up. HIL, like other automotive test verticals, depends on several hardware tools such as – I/O modules, protocol emulators, signal conditioners, power electronics emulators etc.
Executing HIL test cases, isolating ECU responses and validating them against the ECU HEX file is a time-consuming activity. DriveTech’s SierraDT and StellarAi help in automating the bulk of these processes with their built-in value-added functionalities.
SierraDT CAN-FD Data Loggers act as a pass-through interface, enabling seamless and automated trigger injection as per a defined sequence. Further, SierraDT’s wireless connectivity enables it to create a real-time data stream from the ECU to the StellarAi Data Platform.
StellarAi on the other hand, processes the incoming data stream and analyzes it against the predefined ECU logic contained within the respective HEX & A2L files; generating a live status report, run-time validating each ECU response.
SierraDT and StellarAi are able to perform the above data acquisition, management and validation not only on a bench set-up, but on a vehicle level as well. Once validated on the bench level, ECUs are installed in a vehicle and the same logic is validated in real-world conditions. Here too, SierraDT & StellarAi work in unison to establish live data telemetry and logic validation pipelines, helping engineers get live status reports.
